Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes National Park, situated in northern Rwanda, derives its name from the Virunga Massif, a dormant volcanoes. These include Karisimbi, the highest at 4,507m, Bisoke with its lush Crater Lake, Sabyinyo, Gahinga, and Muhabura. The park, spanning 160 sqkm, was established within the Virunga Massif to safeguard endangered mountain gorillas from the threat of extinction due to poaching.

A visit to Volcanoes National Park offers a transformative experience, allowing travelers to come face-to-face with our wild relatives, the mountain gorillas, with whom we share 99% of our DNA.
